Check back often for updates!
January 2011 It's been awhile since we posted an update, and a lot has been going on! The December show with Nonpoint and In This Moment ROCKED! A week after that we were added to a KRock show at Station 58 providing direct support for New Politics (if you don't know New Politics, think Verizon Wireless commercials...). The big news this week is that Augustine won the Band Wars battle of the bands in Utica on January 15th. Band Wars was promoted by JK Toth Productions and was featured in conjunction with the movie premiere of their new film "Empire Tales". Here are some excerpts from JK Toth's report of the show: Regarding round 1: "Augustine followed with a set that demonstrated great poise under pressure, combining tight vocal harmonies with an electric violin. When the dust settled, Edensong and Augustine were neck and neck. By the slimmest of margins in the entire competition, (one point), Augustine was declared the winner of the Saturday competition, thus earning a spot as a BAND WARS finalist." The Finals: "After a short intermission to change out equipment, Shattered Envy, Friday’s champion and finalist, stepped up. Shattered Envy’s lead singer gave a charismatic performance, with their young drummer once again demonstrating mastery of his instrument. Augustine countered with two songs which displayed new heights of energy, flawless solos, rhythm guitars, and a dominating stage presence."
"In the end, Augustine became the Grand Champion of BAND WARS."
As January comes to a close, on Sunday the 30th at the Westcott Theater, we will provide direct support for National recording artists Adema on their reunion tour. Be sure to get your tickets from us before that day! February is a busy month with a trip to the Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg, PA to play in the showcase event. Our schedule on our website is updated often, so check there for details of what else is coming up. And finally, we know some of you have been waiting a long time, we have recently completed our work in the recording studio and will have five newly recorded songs ready for distribution in the very near future.
November 2010 So November is here, it’s getting cold and we’ve already seen some snowflakes in the air. You gotta love Central NY! As far as the band goes though, things have been HOT! The Halloween Havoc II show on 10/23 was OUTSTANDING! Watertown gave us a welcome better than we ever expected or could hope for. That being said, we plan to go back North as often as we can and it starts with 11/27 at Fatboy’s, and then again 3 weeks later at Hotel Adams. We hope to see all you Watertown fans there. Did we mention we’re opening for Nonpoint again? Yes, we are, cool huh? December 2nd at the Lost Horizon, Syracuse and they are bringing along In This Moment...have you seen Maria Brink from ITM? As we quickly approach the holiday season, keep an eye on our schedule as we have lots of upcoming shows including a free Christmas show on 12/23 at Fusion. Be safe and drop us a line sometime to say hello…email, post on our facebook wall (Augustine, Syracuse, NY), stop by the merch table at a show, whatever!
October 2010 We’ve been very busy…which is very good! We ended the summer with a “Bang”, the 95X Summer Bang with Saving Abel, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather, or a better show! We then rolled into September with a long list of shows, including the Utica Music Fest and the Westcott Theater Battle of the Bands…which by the way, we made it through round 1 of the battle and will compete in the semi-finals on Friday October 22. As I write this update, we close out the weekend of the 1st annual Syracuse MIC Music Industry Conference (http://www.micnys.com/). There were a number of high level industry people at the conference, plenty of very educational workshops and opportunities for networking with other bands. The members of Augustine took advantage of many workshops which afforded us plenty of valuable face-time with record industry people, record labels, promoters, producers, the list goes on. We also played as part of the MIC Showcase, at one of our favorite venues, the Half Penny Pub, and we blew the roof off that place! We are hopeful that we made good impressions on the right people and will be given more opportunities and challenges in the near future. Rock on!
August 2010 If you’ve looked at our schedule, you know that this summer is ROCKING! All the way back to the end of June, we played the 95X WWE Pre-Party at the Everson Plaza, then were given tickets to go in to watch the wrestling…good fun! July had us opening the FRAMING HANLEY show, and it was a night to remember as the crowd chanted “One more song! One more song!” at the end of our set. The month of August began with a TV appearance on WCNY Connected (see the video on our frontpage). The 11th is the 2Cents, Seasons After show, and the really big event of the month is the opportunity to open for SAVING ABEL for the 95X Summer Bang! And finally, at the end of the month we have scheduled some studio time to begin working on our new CD. Augustine needs votes from you for the SAMMY's People's Choice Award for Best Band. You can click on the link on the frontpage and vote DAILY! We will be going back after the Westcott Theater's Big Break Battle of the Bands with our Round 1 appearance on September 10th. Last year we nearly brought it home, this year it is NO HOLDS BARRED! Fan attendance helps our score, so please, keep the love and support comin’!
June 2010 UPDATE We are very excited to welcome the stunning Leila Dean as a full time member to Augustine, providing her hauntingly seductive violin and beautiful backup vocals to Augustine's music. The Hot Topic show on 6/25 was held on a stage in the mall. Half way through the set Joey says "It's really loud in here, I look around and there are speakers everywhere!" Yes Joey, it is a ROCK show.
June 2010 Before I go into what’s coming up, let’s recap the past 2 months. As you know, we were scheduled to open for Tantric at the Westcott Theater in Syracuse Monday 4/26. Well, to sweeten things up further, we received a call on Sunday 4/25 from a promoter that Tantric was playing Albany that night and lost 2 openers. They asked if we could come out to play, our response was, “HELL YEAH we’ll come out to play with Tantric!” So we opened for Tantric TWICE! The month of May was quiet, although we did play a show with rising stars Black Water Rising from NYC and were featured on Syracuse.com’s “Meet the Band”. Late in the month of May we finally chose our new bass player: Rob Fehrman. Welcome to Augustine Rob! The band and management of Augustine would like to give a huge THANK YOU to Eric Maliszewski and Trandon, Alan and Gary (The Born Again Rebels) for helping us through the transition period of reforming our band. Eric was our “fill-in” bass player from January of this year till now. Eric’s last show with Augustine will be at the Taste of Syracuse. Alan was our “fill-in” drummer for a short period of time earlier in the year and of course Trandon was always there to help out. Your friendship and patience have allowed Augustine to continue to evolve and grow as a band these past 5 months and not become stagnate. You guys are family. Moving forward, June 1st we travelled to New Hampshire to tape on Scorch’s PFG-TV show. It was a great time; we played 2 songs and had a brief interview. It airs on 6/12 on the MyTV network (channel 7 on Time Warner in CNY). I mentioned above we are playing the Taste of Syracuse, we’re on the Subcat Stage, Saturday June 5th at 4pm. Free show, lot’s of food, you can’t beat it! Then late in the month, Friday June 25th, 7pm at the Great Northern Mall we are playing another Hot Topic Acoustic set but this time out in the mall not in the store!
April 2010 And so it begins, the "new" Augustine is coming out to show the world what we're made of. Starting April 3rd we make the trek to Southbridge Massachusetts to play in JAGFEST. Later that day Augustine returns to Syracuse to open Chucky Luv's B-day Bash along with Bobaflex! Then the following weekend we get back onstage with our friends from Torment the Vein and Dropclutch. Be sure to check our schedule page often to keep up to date with shows as they're added. BIG NEWS just in....Augustine will open for TANTRIC at the Westcott Theater Monday April 26th!!!
February 2010 This has turned out to be a VERY EXCITING month for Augustine. First, we were invited to open the K-Rock show at the Westcott Theater here in Syracuse on Tuesday 2/23. The headlining acts are COLD and NONPOINT! You can contact us for presale tickets or use the Paypal button on our front page. Only $17, no service or shipping fees! Recently, we were asked to play an acoustic set for "Music for the Mission", a benefit for the Rescue Mission in Syracuse. We are privileged to be in the company of some very prestigious musicians that evening and we truly look forward to it. Please checkout their website: www.MusicfortheMission.org And just to go on record, for those who do not know, Augustine is currently in a state of transition. We have recently chosen our new drummer, however we're still actively auditioning bass players. Contact us if interested. In the meantime, we've been fortunate that our good friends from the Born Again Rebels, Alan Haydu and Eric Maliszewski, have stepped-up and offered to be our rhythm section temporarily. The 4 guys have been practicing together and let me tell you what, these guys ROCK and bring a little something more to Augustine!
